Mother Nature's gift to Citrus County is the Chassahowitzka River. The Chassahowitzka River is unlike any other river in Citrus County. No man made sea walls, no marinas and no houses. Just pure nature and the occasional cabin. With an abundance of plant life lining its shores, it is a paradise for nature & wildlife enthusiasts.
Captain Ken, owner of Chassahowitzka River Wildlife Tours , has been offering guided tours on Citrus County Rivers for over 30 years. He has chosen to run tours on his favorite, this primitive and unspoiled river for over 16 years. As an experienced guide and wildlife authority, Captain Ken will converge upon the basking alligator and the frolicking otters as you enter the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge. While explaining the history of the river, he won't let you miss the soaring American Bald Eagle, nor the osprey crashing into the water to retrieve it's mullet dinner. Deer, wild hogs, raccoons, dolphins, and of course, manatees are common sightings on this beautiful river. Many species of wintering and resident birds fill the skies and shorelines.
All tours allow you to escape the crowds experienced on other Citrus County rivers.
